The Man who sued God.

Was a great movie. Funny in an inane sort of way, Billy Connolly was great in his role as a charming down to earth everyman. The idea of someone sueing God was brilliant in its absuridty, or so i thought.

Untill "The Man who sued God" became a documentary that is.

Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers is actually attempting to sue god. Much like Connolly's character in "The man who sued God" Chambers isn't crazy enough to actually think there will be any way of enforcing a judegment, hes doing it "to make a point" Unfortunately its a point that really really doesnt need to be made.

His point according to KETV 7 in Omaha is

Chambers said senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He said his main objection is that the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all.
"Thus anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody -- even God," Chambers said.

Am I the only one out there thinking the last damn thing America needs is to establish a precedent that anyone can sue anyone over anything?

When frivolous lawsuits are on of the biggest contributors to the increase in cost and lack of availabillity of healthcare, among many other "collective costs" why in the hell would anybody think we need more of them?

God help us all, if that is your liabillity insurance is paid up big guy.
